One For The World at UMD Student Ambassador Application
One For The World (OFTW) is a non-profit organization that uses a rigorous, data-driven approach to build a portfolio of the most effective charities in the world. OFTW then encourage students and young professionals to pledge to donate 1% of their post-grad income to these selected charities in order to help end extreme poverty. OFTW has several collegiate chapters across the country ranging from UNC to Villanova to Harvard and we have started our very own at UMD! Our mission, and that of all collegiate chapters, is to educate our peers about the importance of effective giving and encourage them to take the pledge now.

As a Student Ambassador, you will be part of the first ever cohort to join the UMD OFTW chapter and have a direct impact on the creation of our community. It is an amazing opportunity to get involved with an organization that is truly making a difference while also gaining valuable communication, leadership, and sales experience and benefiting from the large professional network of OFTW chapters.

Student Ambassador Responsibilities:
Recruit students on campus to take the 1% pledge
Talk and raise awareness to friends, classmates, etc. about OFTW and effective altruism
     Attend OFTW events and trainings
Generally be able to explain all the charities and be an expert in at least one (no prior knowledge is required)

Please fill out this form if you are interested in applying to the Student Ambassador program! Feel free to reach out to Ally Merwitz or Justin Fox with any questions at maryland@1fortheworld.org.
