Terps Release 2019-20 Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland women's golf team released its 2019-20 competition schedule Thursday.

Coming off of its strongest season in program history, the Terrapins will play against some of the top teams in the country. Click here for the full schedule.

"I am very excited about this year's tournament schedule," head coach Diana Cantu said. "We are going back to some staple events what have been in our schedule for the past few years but have also added some exciting stops to our already competitive fields.

"There is a good mix of events in different parts of the U.S. and other countries. The team will face numerous top players and programs, which will continue to push our games to be better. We enjoy competing against the best as we grow our program. It will be a highly competitive schedule, but we are up for the challenge as we come back from our best year in program history."

The Terrapins will open the fall slate at College of Charleston's Cougar Classic for the second straight season. The event will take place at the Yeaman's Hall Golf Club.

The following weekend, Maryland will play in Tennessee's Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate at the Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. The Terrapins will compete in the Illini Invitational at Medinah Oct. 7-8 at the Medinah Country Club.

Maryland will close its fall slate at The Landfall Tradition tournament, hosted by UNC Wilmington, Oct. 25-27 in Wilmington, N.C. In last year's Landfall Tradition tournament, sophomore Virunpat Olankitkunchai finished tied for sixth overall.

After winter break, the Terps will open their spring season in Puerto Rico Feb. 9-11 at Purdue's Lady Puerto Rico Classic.

The following weekend, Maryland will travel to Guadalajara, Mexico to play in the Guadalajara International Invitational, hosted by Virginia, Feb. 16-18.

"I am looking forward to our event in Guadalajara, Mexico," Cantu said. "It will be fun to take the team to my home country and have them experience the culture and one of the most fun courses to play Mexico."

The Terrapins will compete in Miami's Hurricane Invitational at The Biltmore Golf Club March 2-3. Later in March, they will play in the Clemson Invitational March 27-29 at the Reserve at Lake Keeowee.

Maryland will play in the Lady Buckeye Invitational at Ohio State's Scarlet Course April 18-19.

The Big Ten Championships will be played at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio, April 24-16.

NCAA Regionals will be held around the country May 11-13. The NCAA Championships will be played May 22-27 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.

This past season, the Terrapins earned their first bid to NCAA Regionals since 2012 and their first under Cantu. Olankitkunchai was the first Terrapin to advance to the NCAA Championships, where she finished tied for 43rd.

Maryland finished 44th in the final GolfStat national team rankings, its highest ranking in program history.
