SWK Named Big Ten Player of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the fifth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team was named Big Ten Player of the Week Monday. This is her third career weekly honor and first this season.

Walker-Kimbrough led Maryland (8-0) to its first win over a ranked opponent, as the Terrapins dominated No. 20 Syracuse, 82-64, Wednesday in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Against the Orange, the went 6-for-9 from the field, 3-for-4 from outside the arc and 4-for-4 from the foul line for a team-high 19 points with six rebounds and eight assists. She averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals on the week.

Walker-Kimbrough was named ACC Rookie of the Week twice in the 2013-14 season. This is the first weekly honor for the Terrapins since joining the Big Ten last year.

Walker-Kimbrough and Brionna Jones are both closing in on 1,000 career points. Walker-Kimbrough currently has 968 points and Jones has 821. Fifth-year senior Brene Moseley is nearing the 300 career assist mark. She currently has notched 288 career assists.

Next, the Terrapins will host Loyola (2-5) Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. The Terrapins will be recognizing all police, firefighters and EMTS with free admission for Hometown Heroes Night. Family friends of hometown heroes can purchase discounted tickets.

The Terps will be hosting a Toys for Tots drive at Tuesday’s game and ending at their game Dec. 11 vs. Southern. Fans are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys to donate to help underprivileged youth in the area and help the Terps beat Penn State in a friendly charitable competition.

The Terps-Greyhounds game will be streamed online through BTN2Go.com and the BTN2Go app. Fans will be able to watch with their BTN2Go subscriptions.
