A Moving Performance of "Appalachian Spring"

We turn now to a conversation about a program coming up next Sunday in College Park that features music from a famous ballet.  As you might expect, there will be people moving on the stage to that ballet music. But, what you might not expect is that the ones doing the moving are not dancers, but rather, the musicians who are playing the music.

In 2012, the Macarthur award-winning choreographer Liz Lerman teamed-up with her friend and colleague, the conductor James Ross at the University of Maryland for a unique performance of music by Debussy.  On Sunday, they’ll give a similar treatment to Aaron Copland’s music from his ballet, Appalachian Spring. Liz Lerman and James Ross join Tom Hall on the line from College Park.

The concert is Sunday afternoon at 4:00 in the Dekelboum Concert Hall at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park. You can buy tickets and find out more about it here.
